What Does Queen Elizabeth Eat?

With the royal wedding coming up tomorrow I thought it would be fun to write about what Queen Elizabeth eats.

Breakfast:

For breakfast the queen starts her day with Earl Grey tea without milk or sugar. She drinks it in bone china with some cookies. She also has fruit and cereal. She likes to eat Special K. On occasion she’ll eat toast with marmalade or on special occasions scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. She prefers brown eggs because she thinks they taste better.

Lunch:

Before lunch she likes to do a little light drinking of gin and Dubonnet with lemon and lots of ice. She likes to have fish with vegetables or grilled chicken with salad. She doesn’t like to eat anything starchy when she’s eating alone.

Afternoon tea:

For tea time she has at least 2 types of sandwiches: cucumber, smoked salmon, egg with mayonnaise or ham and mustard. She likes her sandwiches with the crusts cut off.

Dinner:

Some times she likes lamb, roast beef, mutton grouse or salmon. Or she like Gaelic steak, made from fillets of beef and venison from Sandringham and Balmoral with mushroom sauce, cream and whisky. She only likes meat well done. She will never have wine at dinner.

Dessert:

For dessert she likes to have strawberries and sweet white peaches. She also loves chocolate. At the end of the day she always has a glass of champagne.

Seeing what the queen normally eats is fun because some of the things you could eat every day and feel like you’re the Queen.

Should You Eat Organic Food?

Organic food are crops generally grown without synthetic pesticides, artificial fertilizers, irradiation, or biotechnology. Animals on organic farms eat organically grown feed and aren’t confined 100% of the time.

Organic foods can have higher nutritional value than conventional food because in the absence of pesticides and fertilizers, plants boost their production of the phytochemicals that strengthen their resistance to bugs and weeds.

Organic farming reduces pollutants in groundwater and creates richer soil that aids plant growth while reducing erosion, according to the Organic Trade Association. Organic farming used 50% less energy than conventional farming methods in one 15-year study. In some cities, pesticides in tap water have been measured at unsafe levels for weeks at a time, according to an analysis by the Environmental Working Group.

Although organic food is more expensive than regular food it’s recommended to by local and organic foods. To find a farmer’s market in your area you can go to localharvest.org. Look for the USDA seal when shopping for packaged foods.

The things that you put into your body are so important for your physical and mental health. When you eat well you will feel well also.

How To Conquer Stress

Stress. Everyone experiences it in their life. Let’s start off by talking about what stress is: a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. There is actually a difference between positive or negative stress.

Stress isn’t always a bad thing, it’s your body’s response to changes that create a lot of demands. Positive stress is our perception of a situation that could be stressful such as a promotion in a job. We choose to believe it is an opportunity that will give us a good outcome.

Negative stress is our perception of something that causes us feelings of discomfort and/or anxiety such as losing a job. There is also acute stress and chronic stress. Acute stress is short term and can intensify then disappear quickly. Chronic stress is long term and can last for a very long time.

Here are some things you can do to help relieve stress:

  1. Deep breathing or meditation
  2. Music
  3. Exercise
  4. Practicing gratitude
  5. Progressive muscle relaxation
  6. Avoid unhealthy habits such as drinking or smoking
  7. Talk it out

The more you do mindful practices to help reduce stress the better you will become dealing with stress.
